Here at Personnel 2000 we pride ourselves in being up front and honest with our Candidates and Clients.  We hope that the questions and answers below will help clarify any queries you may have. We have an absolute "Open Door Policy" and are always here to help and answer any questions and concerns that you may have. What are the requirements for seeking employment in the Cayman Islands?
Non Caymanian Citizens require a work permit to work here. This is applied for and obtained by your employer. You will need to supply a police clearance from your local police department. This should be from your last 6 months of residence. Please note that British Citizens only require an affidavit from a Solicitor. You will also need to obtain a Medical Report. The Medical Form will be sent to you so that you make take them to your local Physician.

What can Personnel 2000 do for me?
If you are dreaming about relocating to the Cayman Islands, then this is the way to do it. If you are successful in your application with Personnel 2000, a 6-month work permit will be obtained, and Personnel 2000 will employ you. You will then be placed with one of our Clients, e.g. a Law Firm, Bank, Trust Company, or an Accounting Firm. These assignments are usually on a Temp-to-Perm basis. This means that while you are working with our Client, they are also considering you to join their company on a permanent basis. Within the first two months you and our Client will usually form an initial decision for permanent employment. Documents are then prepared for the Client to secure you a permanent work permit.  This new work permit is usually immediately effective once your work permit expires with Personnel 2000 allowing for a smooth employment transition.  Your salary negotiation with our Client is done on your behalf.

Is there a fee for securing a job through Personnel 2000?
There are absolutely no fees or costs what so ever to our Candidates.

What will my salary be?
Personnel 2000 salaries are completely dependant on the vacancies and your qualifications.  However, we guarantee a minimum salary to base your budget on which will be discussed during the course of your interview.

What will be deducted from my paycheck?
Medical Insurance: There are no income taxes in the Cayman Islands. However, medical insurance is mandated by law and is offered to you in the event that you do not have your own coverage. Your employer pays 50% of this medical coverage.
Pension Plan: After you have been in the Cayman Islands for 9 months, you are required by law to enroll in a pension plan. This is a matched pension plan whereby you contribute 5% of your salary, and your employer will match that 5%. You will receive the balance of your pension account when you are no longer working in the Cayman Islands. For further details regarding the Cayman Islands pension plan, please revert to the CI Government web site.

What is the cost of housing & how will I go about securing an apartment?
We at Personnel 2000 do everything possible to find our new recruits accommodations. We direct you to a guesthouse or hotel when you first arrive. We then set out to find a roommate or an apartment that you will be able to afford. You can expect to pay $800.00 to $1000.00 per month for a studio or one bedroom apartment. A two-bedroom apartment is priced anywhere from $1500.00 to $2500.00 per month.  A one-month deposit is usually required.

What will I do on my day off?
On your day off, you may want to gather with friends at the Rum Point Sand Bar and relax in the clear 80-degree aqua marine water while sipping your favorite drink. You may hop aboard one of the dive boats and dive with the best or go to the world-renowned Stingray City and feed the Rays.  There is always a community gathering at one of the beaches. Triathlons, Marathons, swim meets and of course soccer and cricket matches are also a local favorite. There are nightclubs, great restaurants, Movie Theater, and local playhouse theater. Concerts are also a favorite, ranging from Opera to Reggae, Country to Rock & Roll.

What about Shopping?
You will be surprised when you walk into one of our many grocery stores. They look like any other large grocery store chain in the U.S., Canada or the UK. They will have just about anything that you require, with goods being supplied from every corner of the world. Clothing and shoe stores are made up mainly of small boutiques ranging in all levels, from designer clothing to department store quality. If you prefer Mall shopping, Florida is one hour away by aeroplane.

Transportation?
Driving is on the left hand side of the road. There are taxis and busses for public transportation. Many locals and ex-patriots use scooters, motorcycles, and bicycles. There are also automobile dealerships which sell new and used cars.

Medical Facilities?
There are two hospitals on the islands. George Town Hospital is run by the Government and is staffed by numerous specialists from all over the world. Chrissie Tomlinson Hospital is the newest hospital and privately run with full services including the latest technological Medical equipment. There is also a Medical Air Vac service that will fly you to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida USA.

How much money is necessary to relocate?
Cayman Islands Immigration regulations require a person requesting approval of a work permit to be solvent.  We therefore suggest speaking with a recruiter to discuss in detail your financial, employment options and earning potential prior to relocating to the Cayman Islands. You should not consider relocating to the Cayman Islands without sufficient funds. We would suggest a minimum of US$3,000.00 excluding apartment deposits to start. However, this is a personal decision... . We would discourage persons relocating with student loans, mortgages, etc..

How do I know which Agency to choose?
The track record of an Agency speak for itself.  You should ask for personal referrals.  You should know that once into a work permit the Agency is required to provide work for it’s employees for the duration (unless otherwise discussed).  It is against the Cayman Islands Labor Law not to have work for an employee at all times once a permit is approved.
